These are a set of standards proposed by the government aimed at ensuring a certain level of standard amongst financial products. Whilst they are a sign that a lender or provider is a reputable business and offers products that are of a certain quality, a CAT mark does not ensure that a product is the most suitable one for you.
Mortgage brokers are regulated by the Financial Services Authority, although some types of mortgages are unregulated (some buy to let and overseas). A boker with access to allmortgage products can compare them for you and talk through the best product to meet your financial goals.
The best product for you will nt necessarily be the best product for another person. A stright comparison on introductory rate will not necessarily be a good measure to go by. It is important to get a good broker if you choose to use one. You will need to trust their advice so if you shop around then an important factor is the person you will be dealing with. Afterall, brokers with whole of market access will have the same acces sto products as eachother.
